Tentokrát si důkladně procvičíme většinu sloves, která jsme se naučili v minulé kapitole. Nejde jen o to, že se jejich pomocí elegantně vyhneme složitým pravidlům časové souslednosti a změnám slovosledu v nepřímé otázce, ale také o to, že současně patří k nejdůležitějším slovesům v běžné komunikaci a popisují nejobvyklejší komunikační situace. Kromě toho jsou jejich tři typické vazby (větné vzorce) základem celé anglické gramatiky všude tam, kde se v jedné větě setkávají alespoň dvě významová slovesa a tyto vazby často nahrazují celá souvětí.

Než začneme, jeden důležitý tip: jakmile se jedná o úvodní sloveso s předložkou (pozor - neplést s infinitivní částicí to), druhé sloveso nebude v infinitivu (to do), ale vždy v –ingovém tvaru (doing). Např. "I am sorry I lost your pen." - He apologised for losing my pen.

Zadání testu:
Převeďte přímou řeč na nepřímou za použití příslušného speciálního slovesa a správné vazby s druhým (tučně vytištěným) slovesem.

Příklady:
I said, “OK, Peter, I´ll go to the Saturday party with you.“ – I agreed to go to the Saturday party with Peter.
I said, “Sorry, Peter, I won´t go to the Saturday party with you.“ – I refused to go to the Saturday party with Peter.
Dad said to me,“Don´t swim in the river – the water is too cold.“ – Dad told me not to swim in the river.
She said, “Sorry, I´m late.“ – She apologized for being late.
